Well, only 19 days after my mother’s birthday, we finally took her out to eat. Wasn’t bad either. ;) We went to Texas Roadhouse, which is a restaurant my mother likes and my wife seams to really enjoy. With good reason though, it’s a damn good place to eat. ;) We’ve been pretty much every Saturday this month. Though, from the looks of things we may not be going back for a while.

Why? Well, it’s pretty simple. Money.

It’s no secret that both my wife and I are in debt. In over our head doesn’t even come close to describing it. And we have no one to blame but ourselves. I never really spent that much (though was still probably more than I should have) using credit cards. Then in late 2001 I lost my job. Well, actually, I was fired (again, my own damn fault). In the three months it took me to find a new job, I lived mainly off of my credit cards. This included my auto payment as well as two student loans.

Since then, I’ve managed to pay some off and consolidate others. Despite my best efforts things just never seamed to get any better.

Fast forward a few more years and life gets a bit more complicated, and in more ways than one. Enter the wife. ;) Take my debt, her debt, and add all the fun stuff that goes with marrage together and you get our debt. To be honest, when we got married back in June our finances looked pretty damn good. Both working, both making an income, both paying towards debt. Sure, there may have been more debt, but there was also more money coming in to pay the debt.

Then things got tight again after Farrah [the wife] lost her job. :/ With what I bring home, I can manage to pay the bills, however that’s at the bare minimum. And anyone who is in debt knows, the bare minimum doesn’t get you anywhere. Guess that’s why they call it the bare minimum, huh?

The good news is, Farrah has a good lead on a new job (though I’m not crazy about it). If she gets it, she’ll be making more than she ever has anywhere else. :) And that will be a major benefit to us. The job that she may have is an Air Port Screener here at McGhee Tyson Airport (in Knoxville, TN).

You know, those people who sit around and scan baggage and people for bombs, drugs, guns, and everything else. Yeah, just where a loving husband wants his wife to be. :/ Right in the line of fire. Though, I do have insurance on here… and if… hmm… maybe it’s not so bad after all. ;) j/k

Anyway, sorry about the “woe is me” sob-story about the debt. Just needed a place to vent I guess. Isn’t that what blogs are for? Anyway, if you see a few items posted for sale at OverclockersClub or EBay, you know what’s up.

I’ll part with one bit of advice for anyone that reads this. Credit Cards are nice, convenient, and fun. They are also extremely dangerous and devastating. The best thing you can ever do is stay the hell away from credit cards. Take it from me, I know. ;)
