Well, the Explorer is running again.
Friday on my way to work, I noticed that the temp sensor was all the way on hot (or high). Friend of mine said it was probably the thermostat, so I decided I’d replace it. I haven’t really done any maintenance on my 1999 Ford Explorer Sport anyway. And since the last two times I went to Free Service Tire & Auto Center I ended up spending over $300.00 each trip. First was for the 30K service (which I could have done 85% of that) and the next was for the brakes (which I’d rather not do, even if I could).
Anyway, ended up replacing the thermostat with no problem, and also replaced the hood struts which Free Service broke last time I was there. Spent $75 total on parts, which I’m sure would have cost $150 at that other place.
