Goodbye Johnnie!

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

One of the most famous defense lawyers for rich scumbags* has passed away. Johnnie Cochran died yesterday at the age of 67. I’d love to hear the final verdict on this one. :D

*I’m sure he’s also defended poor scumbags, and maybe even some non-scumbags in his life.

Google Agrees To Acquire Urchin

Tuesday, March 29th, 2005

According to a number of sites out there, it appears as if Google has signed a deal to buy web analytics company, Urchin.

There is a press release at both Urchin’s website and Google.

Bah… What A Day

Tuesday, March 29th, 2005

So, they’ve decided that over the next three weeks the plant will be upgrading all Windows 2000 PCs to Windows XP SP2. Yeah, sounds like a good idea.

My building was one of the first ones to get hit with the “migration”. Little did they tell us, we’d be installing Windows XP across the network using an automated install.

Well, I started my upgrade yesterday at about 12:30 PM, and by the time I left work 3 hours later it was still in the process of backing up the files. So I left it run as I went home for the day.

Came in this morning, and the backup had finished as well as the “Stage 1″ part of the XP upgrade. It was not time to reboot and finish frakking up the system. So, about three hours pass and it’s finally finished. Not.

Next we get to spend 30 minutes installing additional updates, which wouldn’t be that bad, however we had to first troubleshoot the NIC. Apparently the 3Com 3CR990 NICs have an issue with Windows XP, that our IT support staff was aware of but declined to inform anyone.

Problem fixed, and since I now know about the issue, I’m called on by others in the department to “fix everything”. Even though, I have absolutely nothing to do with the XP upgrade. I’ve got to get out of that area…

Two-Day Time Extension For WoW Players

Tuesday, March 29th, 2005

Just checked the World of Warcraft site, and noticed that we’re getting another extension on our time. It’s just two days, but better than nothing, right? :p

I’ve said it over and over, it really amazes me that Blizzard keeps doing this. From the games that I’ve played, I’ve gotten the most free time from Blizzard. Very cool, even if it does get aggravating that you can’t play some times.

The New OCC Photo / Image Gallery

Monday, March 28th, 2005

In case you’ve been living under a rock, we’ve added a new “Image / Photo Gallery” to the OverclockersClub.com forums.

We’ve set up a few public galleries, where members can post images of themselves, nature, animals, hardware, gaming stuff, and even OCC media. ;) We’re also allowing members to create their own “photo album” (through my controls) and post just about anything they want. ;)

So, check out the new gallery and let us know what you think!
