I’ve never claimed to be the smartest person in the world, and what I did yesterday could be prime example of why.
I’ll roll the clock back about a week. A good friend of mine, Steve, said his brother had picked up Battlefield 2, but couldn’t get the game to run. I told him it was probably due to the video card, and sure enough that was the problem. I forget what he was running, but it was some kind of ATi POS.
Well, I’m a big fan of the Battlefield franchise. I played BF1942, BFV, and many of the related mods for countless hours. When BF2 was announced, I couldn’t wait, but by the time it finally came out I had to. I don’t really have the financial stability to go out and buy new games any time I feel like it, though sometimes I wish I did. :p
I received an email from EA on my birthday (July 8th) which included a $15 coupon at the EA store. $15 off of BF2? Alright, now we’re talking. 
So I ordered the game.
I decided I’d download the demo from FilePlanet and work on my FPS skills since I haven’t played much of anything since WoW came out. During the download is when it hit me, “Dumbass, your card sucks more than that guy’s ATi card.”
I installed the BF2Demo anyway just to see… just to see nothing. After clicking on the shortcut, the screen goes black and then I see my desktop again. So, here I am now with BF2 coming in 3-5 days and I’m not going to be able to play it. :’(
I’ve been in need of a new video card for a while. To bad I cannot afford one. :/
