Google’s newest service, Google Talk (Beta), is now available for download. Or you can connect to it via Gaim, Trillian, or another multi IM client as long as you have a Google/GMail account. At the moment, Trillian and GAIM are giving me errors when trying to connect.
As many people have speculated over the past months, Google Talk is a Jabber/XMPP based client that allows you talk (voice) and Instant Message your friends. Plans to support SIP are slated for a future release.
Google’s client itself, a 900KB download, is pretty simplistic if not a bit childish looking. I’m sure there will be plug-ins released for it in typical Google fashion.
More information about Google Talk is available here.
