I’m a bit behind on my email, so I just saw this and wanted to post about it even though it’s not exactly new.
An XFire user has created a program called, Xfire Plus: Music Plugin, and it brings a highly requested feature to the XFire IM Client. The ability for other users to see what you are listening to. According to the origional message, the supported media players are: WinAmp, Windows Media Player, iTunes, RealPlayer, LAUNCHcast, Foobar 2000, and MusicMatch Jukebox.
I’m about to install this and see if it works with QMP. I’ll update in a few minutes with the results.
Update: While QMP isn’t technically supported, you can (sort of) “trick” Xfire Plus into thinking that iTunes is playing the music. Here is what needs to be done.
- Download the AMIP plugin for QMP. – The site still list it as QCD.
- Start QMP and go to preferences.
- Select the Plug-Ins tab
- Select general from the list on the left
- Highlight AMIP Wrapper 0.02 and click configure.
- After that, you can follow the XFire Plus iTunes Install Guide
Just remember to set XFire plus to use iTunes!
