For those of you who read d3bruts1d.com, you probably know that I recently stepped down as the Senior Editor for OverclockersClub.com to pursue other opportunities.
As I’ve hinted around, since I stepped down from my spot on OCC, I’ve been working on my own “Tech Related” community. Something like OCC, yet different. As I explained to a couple of people there was so much I wanted to do with OCC, yet couldn’t do. Mainly because it wasn’t my site to mold and develop. Sure, I had input, but no real decision.
I’m happy to announce than in early 2006, TechRelated.com will be opening to the public. I won’t say a lot about it right now, but I think it’s going to be pretty cool when everything is finished.
What can you expect from TechRelated.com? Well, there will be news. Yes, lots and lots of news. Anyone who remembers my reign as “news poster” on OCC should know what to expect. We’ll have our share of brutally honest reviews and informative how-to guides. And of course, we’ll have to have discussion forums so that everyone can discuss the latest “Tech Related” stuff, and maybe even some not so Tech Related stuff. In fact, the forums will be powered by Invision Power Board, and will also serve as the basic HUB for other features of the site.
Teams, teams, teams! To me part of a strong community is people helping people, even people outside of the community. One Tech Related way to do this is by participation in the various distributed computing projects. Several of these programs are trying to find a cure for cancer and numerous other diseases, while others are striving to make life better for everyone. We’ll also be participating in some of the more useless, but fun projects (TKC, Project Dolphin, Uptime, etc.). Like I said, teams, teams, teams. Visit TechRelated.com now for a listing of the current teams.
That’s all I’m going to say for now. But don’t worry; I’ll be posting more information soon. 2006 isn’t that far away. If you do have any ideas or suggestions as what you would like to see in a new community, please let me know. I’m listening.
