“Welcome to the age of litigation. Were a lawsuit can be filed for any reason, regardless of fault.” I’ve been saying that for years, and over the weekend I read yet another article that backs up that statement.
A Chinese family is suing Blizzard Entertainment, because their child jumped to his death (apparently out of a 20-something story window). The reason? Apparently the kid was trying to recreate a scene from the popular MMORPG, World of Warcraft. Here are some articles talking about it:
Alright, wait just one damn minute there. Some kid jumps out of a window because of WoW? Better yet, because he was trying to do something he saw in a frakking video game? I’ve been playing WoW since early beta, and let me assure all of you who don’t play, nowhere in the game do you jump out of a 21 story building. Now, there are a few places where you can jump off of a mountain…. but guess what, it’s a frakking video game, not real life.
If your kid does something stupid because of a video game, the chances are the kid has (or had) bigger issues than spending to much time sitting on his ass in front of a computer. Here is a free tip for all you parents, get your kids off their asses every once and a while! Just be careful… they might see a squirrel and try and jump from tree to tree.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d hate for any parent to lose a child. But then, some people shouldn’t be parents. I think stories like this prove it.
Now, if gamers of the world would just file a class action lawsuit against stupid parents.
