Google Adds More Features To GMail

Google has been hard at work on their free email service, GMail. Last week they added virus scanning, which was long over due, as well as some other new features.

First off is what they call GMail clips. In case you haven’t figured this out, this allows GMail to display RSS feeds. Currently it’s not tied to Google Reader or Google’s Personalized Home Page, so that sucks. I’m sure we’ll see the features come together soon.

Also new to GMail is a feature that will display “relative links” on the right side of the screen. No, I’m not talking about the text ads. Now if Google detects a tracking number or something similar in your email, it’ll give you a quick link to UPS, FedEx, or wherever. I’m sure that one is going to have privacy activist up in arms again.
