Microsoft Has Baught Opera Software

Here is one piece of BS I’ll leave with you before I head out to see family. According to this article, which contains no sources, Microsoft and Opera Software have come to a deal that allows Opera Software to be purchased by the monopoly.

Bullshit? Yup, I think so. IMO it’s probably nothing more than a made up story by CTZ in order to get traffic, which they are getting thanks to Digg.

Stay tuned to Opera Watch, as I’m sure Daniel will have some real information on anything going on later.

And with that I’m off. See everyone in a few days. :)

Microft Should Buy Opera – NOT!

I’m sure most people have heard of John Dvorak by now. He’s an editor for PCMag, and IMHO an idiot, but I think as one Slashdot member said it best (link), “He [Dvorak] is one of the most successful trolls on all of the Internet.” What’s Dvorak’s comments this time? Well, the guy seams to think that Microsoft buying Opera would be a good thing.

Umm… let’s think about this for a second. Does this sound like a good idea? How about a big, “hell no.”

If MS were to buy Opera, you’d take the best browser on the Internet and screw it up. You’d make a monopoly bigger, and reduce competition in the marketplace. Where is the good in that? o.O

I will agree with him on one thing.

Since Opera has a Mac version this may also be a reason for Microsoft to not upgrade any more than it has to. If this happening, the biggest loser might be Mozilla Firefox since many consider Opera to not only be the best browser available, but the fastest and the one with the best page rendering engine.

Anyway, there are a lot of interesting comments to read at Opera Watch and Slashdot.

The rumors of anyone buying Opera isn’t new. Just a week ago, rumors were flying that Google could buy Opera. Personally, I’d like to see Opera the way it is, but if someone were to buy it, I’d rather it be Google than MS.

Google Music Search

Google has been hard at work improving the different ways you can use their search. The latest feature, as reported on the Google Blog, is the ability to search for a popular artist, group, or band which will return results about the artist, reviews, cover art, and more. Heck there is even links for you to buy the music.

Here are some examples:

Just search away.
