That’s not how much I won gambling or playing the lottery. Nope, that is something even better. That’s the number that appears under “Unpaid Balance” on a statement that arrived from Parkwest Medical Center.
You see, two weeks ago, I started having some mostly mild chest pains. Didn’t really thing much about it, until one night it started hurting really bad. I went to my family doctor the next day who said it might (based on an EKG) be pericarditis; an inflammation of the heart sack. He suggested I head to the emergency room for some blood work, which I did.
I spent a little over four hours there getting blood taken, x-rayed, EKG’ed again, and some other stuff. The doctor on duty at the ER said the EKGs looked the same, but based on the blood work it wasn’t pericarditis. His thoughts were that it was more likely just some kind of inflammation of the chest wall. He sent me on my way with a prescription for a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory. It did nothing for me.
So here I am, still having the same chest pains… looking at a statement for $2,486.16.
I sure hope my insurance covers some of this….
