As popular news sites are commenting on their best and worst of 2007, CNN has posted their own list of the worst movies for 2007. A list which I’m sure many, many people will disagree with. This is what Tom Charity had to say in his article about the worst movies:
“300″
Frankly, it was a tossup for the third spot between this gung-ho Greek meatfest and Michael Bay’s overblown toy commercial, “Transformers.” A lot of people got off on both, I realize, and the computer-generated work was impressive in its way. But no matter how you spin it, war porn is war porn — and we’d better off without it.
A tossup for 3rd spot (worst movie list) was between 300 and Transformers? WTF? Both of these movies were amazing. Story, action, special effects. I don’t see how either one of those titles could be anywhere near the worst for 2007. Matter of fact, don’t take my word for it, here are what some others had to say: (more…)

Not that anyone really cares at this point, but AOL has killed Netscape for the 2nd time. For the less than 0.2% out there that actually use Netscape, AOL will only provide security updates for the next month. On February 1, 2008 the browser will no longer be supported.
They are encouraging users to switch to the Firefox web browser.

A new build for Trillian Astra has been released to testers. According to the blog, this is mainly a bugfix build with some updates to the Cobalt skin. As with the previous build, you’ll have to manually download this update as the auto patch server is still undergoing maintenance.

Finally home from the last Christmas stop. Knoxville, Arkansas, Nashville and finally back home in Knoxville. It was fun, but I’m ready to rest now. If it’s ok with everyone, I think I’ll not be traveling for a while. :p

Over the Christmas weekend, my brother introduced me to a old game called Fate. Somehow I have managed to miss this amazing game for all of these years. Oh well, that was during my WoW time, so I’m sure I missed a lot all together.
According to Wikipedia, Fate was originally released in May of 2005… so, if you are like me, we’ve overlooked this game for years! Good news, you can still pick it up and for about $20.00 online. (more…)

Decided to go see I Am Legend today at the new IMAX Theater here in Knoxville. For those of you that don’t know, I Am Legend is based on a novel of the same name. There has also been two other movies baesed off the book. One with Vincent Price called “The Last Man on Earth” and the other with Charlton Heston called “The Omega Man“.
Personally I liked The Omega Man better than I Am Legend. I don’t know, the movie was good, but I just have a hard time with Will Smith playing anything other than some goofy character. I wish we had gotten more of the vampire/zombie killing scenes and less of scenes of him talking to the mannequins.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Live Free or Die Hard (aka Die Hard 4), and was very happy to see it available on Comcast OnDemand. For the fourth installment in the series, it rocked! I didn’t think Bruce had it left in him.
The only thing I didn’t like about the movie was the street jumper that they had playing the bad guy. I found him bouncing around all over the place to be a tad bit annoying, though I enjoyed his death! :p Could we have another Die Hard down the road? After watching this one, I think they could make it work. Though it does bring one question to mind, how many more bad days can John McClane have?
I was thinking about this during the movie. While I’ve never seen 24, I think it’d be cool to have a cross over Die Hard – 24 season. Have Jack and John trying to save the day. It could happen, Fox owns both.
Fantasy moment aside, I really liked Live Free or Die Hard. I think it is the best since the original.

Finally got around to watching The Simpsons Movie yesterday evening.
Now, I’ve never really been a huge fan of The Simpsons, in fact I didn’t start watching it until I got married, as it just happened she loves The Simpsons. Sure, they can be funny at times, but it is no Family Guy. So, what’d I think about the movie? It was ok, to me it felt a bit long and drawn out in places. The story was decent, but nothing spectacular.
It was basically everything that you’d expect from an episode of The Simpsons, except this ran for an hour longer. As for the “special features” on the DVD, I found them rather unexciting. Overall, I’d say the movie was a 3.5/5, I’m glad I didn’t go see it in the theater.

My wife has posted to her blog for the first time in half a year. Don’t get your hopes up though, as she’s only blogged to say that she plans on blogging. What a gal. lol
