Have You Seen The New OCC?

Monday, February 26th, 2007

I won’t lie. I still stop in on OverclockersClub.com from time to time, granted I don’t spend nearly as much time as I did when I actually worked for the site. But if you haven’t seen the place in a while, you might want to stop in for a visit. The place has really picked up since LinuXProX sold the site and Howard & Dave took over.

Now, the site is under a “reconstruction” as they redo the layout…. at least I hope that is what they are doing, as right now the main site looks “half assed”. Some of the older articles are still under the old site layout, while others have been “converted” but the layout is FUBAR. I’m sure they’ll get it straightened out later.

Looks like they are publishing at least 2 review per week, which is good. And they are also posting links to Digg, which is a great move to bring in traffic. Though, I’d suggest putting a “Digg This” button on every article / news item and quit using the giant “counter” button… or at least find a better way to integrate it in so it doesn’t look so out of place. Though using a much smaller article image might help. Personally, I’ve never been to found of those… especially when everyone is a different size. And if you are going to use them, at least have a link on the stupid things!

All-in-all, I’m glad to see things picking up for OCC.

The Black Donnellys

Monday, February 26th, 2007

Tonight is the NBC premier of what looks to be an interesting show, The Black Donnelly’s. It looks like it could be a good action/drama, and I’ll be watching it tonight after Heroes…. if for no other reason than to see the first episode.

What else am I watching these days?
The War at Home (Sun @ 7:30p on FOX)
The Dresden Files (Sun @ 9:00p on SciFi)
Battlestar Galactica (Sun @ 10:00p on SciFi
Heroes (Mon @ 9:00p on NBC)
House (Tue @ 9:00p on FOX)
Lost (Wed @ 10:00p on ABC)
My Name is Earl (Thu @ 8:00p on NBC)

No… I don’t watch 24 or Prison Break. I never got into those shows, though I would have probably enjoyed them both. To be honest though, I really don’t have time to watch anything else.

Our House

Monday, February 26th, 2007

As many of you know… Farrah (aka CelticaFLM) and I just moved into our new house. A lot of people have been asking for pix of the place, so here it is:

From Our House (in…

We’ve still got a lot of work to do on it. But it’s ours. :)

I Now Work At Wally*World

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

Nope, I’m not a greater. That position had already been filled. :p

Seriously though, I did accept a part-time weekend job with the Arkansas based company. I hope that working a few additional hours with Wal*Mart will enable me to pay off a good chunk of debt, make needed (and wanted) improvements to the new house, and of course save up for the future.

I go in for “orientation” Saturday. It should be…. interesting.

LOST: Not In Portland

Monday, February 12th, 2007

LOST returned last Wednesday after an excruciatingly long mid season break. If you missed Wednesday’s episode, Not in Portland, you really missed the return of LOST. The episode, which airs again before this week’s episode (IIRC), was exciting. It reminded me so much of Season 1-2 and reminded me why I fell in love with this show.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the first part of Season 3. However it felt like the early episodes of Season 3 were missing something, and just kind of dragged on. Not In Portland brought everything back and it had me craving “more”.

The previews for the next episode of LOST look really good. I know I’ll be glued to the TV.

Superbowl XLI… Meh.

Monday, February 5th, 2007

Well, the Superbowl is over with. My thoughts? I wish that SciFi had gone ahead and aired The Dresden Files and Battlestar Galactica.

Don’t get me wrong, the Superbowl itself wasn’t a bad game. I just don’t care that much for pro-sports. I did watch the game, like many other people, to see the commercials. That is where the real disappointment came in. Budweiser and GoDaddy had new commercials… actually; Budweiser seemed to dominate the ads. There were a couple of other “new” commercials that I had not seen before, but for the most part the commercials were things that aired during Superbowl XL or just some other time in the past year.

The best commercial that I found was the Blockbuster “Pet Store” ad. Even it (IIRC) was an old ad…. though the best part of it was seeing my wife brought to tears from laughing so hard at it. That was the best thing the entire night.

Anyway, congratulations to the Colts who won the game.
