Thursday, April 26th, 2007LOST: So, What Exactly Happened To Oceanic Flight 815
Thursday, April 26th, 2007Yes, there are spoilers if you haven’t seen last night’s episode.
So the big question after last night is what exactly happened to Oceanic Flight 815? More importantly the survivors on the island. We learned last night from the parachute girl that 815 had been found and everyone as dead.
First off… We’ll probably find that parachute girl is part of Penelope’s expedition / research team, which we haven’t seen since the end of Season 2. It’s pretty obvious she wasn’t there looking for the 815 survivors.
Now a question I have is, what kind of helicopter was she in? I’ve been digging through information on helicopters…. range varies depending on the type of helicopter, but the biggest I’ve found (and most likely to have been what was used) is the H-3 Sea King, which has a range of 621 miles (~1,000 km). Tennessee is 440 miles long from end to end to give ya an idea.
This would mean that wherever the helicopter came from was no more than ~300 miles away. There are only two options here… a body of land, even if it were an island or a ship large enough to be seafaring and support a helicopter.
That out of the way, let’s get back to 815…
There are a couple of possible explanations as to what happened.
OneParallel universe theory. Somehow, 815 was sucked into a parallel universe where the real 815 crashed and everyone died. This kind of fits into the whole time travel theory about LOST.
TwoA more likely situation, would be that DHARMA or “The Others” crashed a fake 815 so no one would come looking for them, and then stumble upon the island.
ThreeThe Millennium theory. Could the LOST producers have taken ideas from the novel / film Millennium? For those of you who never saw it, Millennium was about a group time travelers from a far distant future. In the future Earth is polluted and the gene pool “irreparably damaged”. In an attempt to restart life, these people travel back in time to a more present day Earth and abduct people that are about to die in a plain crash. To cover everything up, the people that are abducted are replaced with manufactured corpses.
FourThe losties were never on 815. Rather they have been brainwashed and reprogramed as part of a DHARMA experiment to think that they were.
Any other theory’s out there? I’m sure they are… it’ll be interesting when we finally find out which one is right.
e107 News Archive "Plugin"
Wednesday, April 18th, 2007Yes, a shameless plug for me… or rather something I created. But then again, what would you really expect on a personal website? :p
Several years ago, I was looking for a “News Archive” plugin for e107 (the CMS I use for this site). I wanted something simple that displayed news titles, and the date posted. Basically something that followed the KISS principle. e107 had an attempt at a news archive, but it wasn’t what I wanted.
So, I created my own, which you can see here. Very basic, and just the way I wanted it…. and apparently, just the way some other people wanted it too.
I’m always happy to see people using it, or asking how it was done. While I’ve not done much to upgrade it since the first versions, I’m still open to feedback and changes. Just let me know, and if it’s something I think I can do, I’ll give it a shot.
So, if you’re searching for a e107 News Archive “plugin”, you’ll find everything you need to know right here. Just keep in mind, this isn’t a real “plugin” in the way of all the other e107 plugins. You don’t install it, you copy the code into your own page and it “just works”.
If you have any feedback for me on the plugin, please post in the e107 forums.
The Black Donnellys
Monday, April 16th, 2007Did you know that NBC has given the axe to The Black Donnellys? I didn’t know until a week or so ago, when I saw a post about a “Save The The Black Donnellys” petition on Digg.com.
The last episode, according to an old article on Variety.com will air tonight. Though if you remember, we didn’t have an episode last week. And according to TVGuide.com, there isn’t one airing tonight.
So in truth, The Black Donnellys are done. Can we help? I hope so, as I enjoyed the show.
Head on over to the-black-donnellys.net for info on how to help save a great show.
Site Updated
Monday, April 16th, 2007I’ve updated the version of e107 that I’m running for the first time in…. well, let’s just say a very long time.
Because of the length of time between updates, and the number of updates applied, there may be some things that are not working correctly. — I’ve not found anything yet, but if you do, please reply here and let me know.
A LOST Theroy Of My Own
Tuesday, April 10th, 2007I love LOST, and like most people I have my own ideas about what exactly is going on. I was surprised that I haven’t seen a theory quite like this one yet… it builds on the many LOST time travel theories that exist out there. So what’s my theory?
I’m sure we all can agree that something is amiss with the whole island and those on it. Recently, there have been talk about a possible time travel aspect related to the island. I’d have to agree with this.
But who time travels, and where? That’s a good question, and I think I might have an answer of sorts…. granted, it may be a stretch.
We all know Ben lies. He told the losties that his name was Henry Gale, when it wasn’t. He’s now telling us that his name is Ben. What if it isn’t? Could it be that Ben’s real name is Aaron?
Not following me? Aaron is the name of Claire’s baby…. what if Ben is Claire’s son, but from the future. We know (ok, we assume it wasn’t another lie) that Ben was born on the island, and guess what, so was Aaron.
This would certainly explain why we’ve seen so many books dealing with time travel, and this might also explain why Ben (and the Others) know so much about the losties. Could the tumor Ben had have been a result of time travel, or a side effect of two him’s being in the same place (the island)? Sure… it’s possible.
Right or wrong, it’s my theory.
Join Me On Rupture & GameSpy Comrade
Sunday, April 8th, 2007I’ve not played WoW in several months (thanks to the new home and the 2nd job), but I am a member of Rupture. It’s a new social networking site for gamers…. sort of, right now it only caters to WoW players. If you’d like an invite, give me a shout, and I’ll hook you up with one (limited availability).
I’m also using GameSpy Comrade now…. it’s basically GameSpy’s attempt to copy Xfire. Xfire is (IMO) still far better, but it’s another way to contact me.
Look me up if you are using it… my name is d3bruts1d.
TechRelated.com Is No More (3/31/07)
Sunday, April 8th, 2007Due to several reasons, I have closed down TechRelated.com. The two main reasons behind this is time and money. I regret having to do this, as there were a number of people who enjoyed the site and visited daily. Perhaps someday, when things are better for me, I’ll be able to bring the site back.
