CBS Acquires Last.FM

Wow… looks like all the money CBS is saving by canceling good TV shows, and airing crap has allowed them to shell out some cash for the purchase of the music oriented, social network Last.FM. Not really sure what this means at the moment, other than if the number of users drops, we’ll probably see Last.FM canceled. Yes, I’m still bitter, can ya tell?

According to the LA Times CBS managed to shell out $280 million for the purchase. A good price, for a great service. How will this impact Last.FM? It really could be for the better….

I’ve added a few new features, and made some additional changes to the site specifically for the benefit of registered members.

Those of you who are logged in will now have a menu on the right side that will show the last 5 posts, comments, etc…. and if you need more, there is a “Recent Activity” link on the menu to the left that will show a few more items.

I’m going to rearrange the forums here on d3bruts1d.com for those of you that want to discuss other stuff as well. It may not be TechRelated.com, but at least you’ll have a place to talk without having to walk on egg shells.

1985, Why Have I Not Heard This Song Before?

On the way back from Nashville the other day, I heard a great song on the radio (thanks Jack FM!). The song is “1985″ by Bowling For Soup. Actually, I think that is who was preforming… according to the great Wikipedia, the song was originally done by SR-71 and then covered by Bowling For Soup. Either way, it’s a great song.

The lyrics for the song are:

################################

Woohoo
Woohoo

Debbie just hit the wall
she never had it all
one Prozac a day
husbands a CPA
her dreams went out the door
when she turned twenty four
only been with one man
what happen to her plan?

She was gonna be an actress
she was gonna be a star
she was gonna shake her ass
on the hood of white snake’s car
her yellow SUV is now the enemy
looks at her average life
and nothing has been alright

Since Bruce Springsteen, Madonna
way before Nirvana
there was U2 and Blondie
and music still on MTV
her two kids in high school
they tell her that she’s uncool
’cause she still preoccupied
with 19, 19, 1985

Woohoo
(1985)
Woohoo

She’s seen all the classics
she knows every line
Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink
even Saint Elmo’s Fire
she rocked out to wham
not a big Limp Biscuit fan
thought she’d get a hand
on a member of Duran Duran

Where’s the mini-skirt made of snake skin
and who’s the other guy that’s singing in Van Halen
when did reality become T.V.
what ever happen to sitcoms, game shows
(on the radio there was)

Springsteen, Madonna
way before Nirvana
there was U2 and Blondie
and music still on MTV
her two kids in high school
they tell her that she’s uncool
’cause she still preoccupied
with 19, 19, 1985

Woohoo

She hates time make it stop
when did Motley Crew become classic rock?
And when did Ozzy become an actor?
Please make this stop
Stop, Stop!
And bring back

Springsteen, Madonna
way before Nirvana
there was U2 and Blondie
and music still on MTV
her two kids in high school
they tell her that she’s uncool
’cause she still preoccupied
with 1985

Is it bad that I like this song? :D

Are you LOST?

Well, after last night’s finale I’m sure many people are LOST. They promised something that would change the game, and they delivered. Now, we just need to figure out what the frak is going on. Where will season four take us? To be honest, I have no clue.

Here are my thoughts on what we saw last night (spoilers!):

  • The “flash backs” we saw last night were not really flashbacks at all. Nope, it was actually what appeared to be a “flash forward”. Or was it? There was one particular scene that had alternate reality written all over it. Did you catch it?
  • The scene I’m talking about is after Jack had stolen a number of the Oxycontin. When he got into the argument with his new boss, he said “Get my father down here. Get him down here now. If I’m drunker than he is, you can fire me.” Was this just the ramblings of a mad, drunkard or is Jacks father alive? We know he’s dead… we saw him in the morgue.
  • Assuming it was truly a flash forward, what year was it? The phone Jack was using looked a lot like a KRZR or a RAZR.
  • Who died? My guess is it was either Sawyer or Ben. Both of which could explain why no one showed up to the funeral. Though I’m not sure why Sawyer’s death would have made Jack upset. If it was Ben, Jack could be upset because Ben would have been the only person to know the truth. Who did Kate have to get back to? I’m guessing either Sawyer or their child, depending on who died. The more I think about it, the more I’m leaning towards it being Ben’s funeral.
  • Why did Charlie seal his own fate and allow himself to drown? This is easy. It’s what he believed he was destined to do. He believed his drowning would save Claire and Aaron, and any change to Desmond’s flash could severely alter that.
  • Where did Walt come from? And better yet, what did he tell Locke about Naomi? Was it really Walt, or was that another one of the island’s mysterious images?
  • Where is Michael? Why hasn’t he sent help? Did he really leave the island?
  • What were/are the others building a runway for? Personally, I liked Juliet’s answer.
  • With Locke killing Naomi, was he answering Jackob’s “Help Me” plea? And why could Locke kill her but not his father? Was it even Locke?
  • Temple? What temple? Where did Ben want to the others to go? And why? Is this another creation by the same people that created the four-toed statue?

Well, there are a lot of questions that will be on our mind until next year when the show returns. Damn long breaks!
