J.J. Abrams' Project Cloverfield Stirs Things Up

It all started with an untitled trailer before Transformers; A quick teaser, no name, and the “Bad Robot” logo is all that you see. What is it exactly? It’s what has become known as “Project Cloverfield”, though I have no idea why it’s called that, or even who called it that. From the what little you can see in the trailer, it’s obvious that this is some sort of Science Fiction Moster type movie. Many people have speculated that it would be Godzilla. It isn’t.

Along with the untitled trailer, several viral websites have poped up in an effort to create a buzz about this mysterious movie. We have:
www.1-18-08.com
www.ethanhaaswasright.com
ethanhaaswaswrong.blogspot.com

The first link is clearly a date, either when the events of the movie start, or the planned opening date for the movie. My guess is it’s the latter of the two. The 2nd link is actually a series of puzzle games. Figure them all out, and who knows what you might get. The third link, is a odd blog.

So what exactly is the movie? Godzilla? Aliens? Lost? No.

Apparently the movie is about a creature created by H.P. Lovecraft called Cthulhu. J.J. Abrams has a pretty good track record (LOST, Alias, Felicity) so this movie could be good. The one thing that has me concerned though, is apparently this movie is shot entirely using hand held cameras, in a “The Blair Witch” style filming. I don’t know if that can work, but if anyone has a chance to pull it off, it’ll be Abrams.
