LOST, Eli Stone, & Jimmy Kimmel

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

Tomorrow is the season four premier of LOST on ABC. Everyone’s known this for a long time, and we’ve been waiting for it. Well, word on the street is that during the premier of Eli Stone (immediately after LOST) there will be an announcement from Oceanic Airlines. Perhaps the find815.com game isn’t going to end with the lost premier? Anyone want to speculate what exactly the announcement might be?

Also, tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (meh) there are suppose to be some “never before seen LOST clips“. Let’s hope these lost LOST clips are better than the missing pieces that ABC’s been feeding us for the last few months.

Sophia Myles Talks About Moonlight

Monday, January 28th, 2008

FEARnet.com has an interview with Sophia Myles who plays Beth on CBS’s Moonlight. It was a bit slow to start, but I overall enjoyed Moonlight. Matter of fact, I was starting to like it so much, I was anticipating it being canceled (The Black Donnellys or Jericho anyone?). Looks like we might see a season two if the WGA strike ever ends.

Oh, and did you know that Sophia was also a character in Underworld? I loved Underworld, but didn’t realize she was in it! She was also “the girl in the mirror” for you Dr. Who fans. ;)

War On Scientology

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

“Anonymous” has declared war on the Cult of Scientology. As a result, over the last several days several Scientology related websites have been defaced, and others have suffered DDoS attacks. While this appears to be a “cyber war” it is really more than that, it is an attempt to overthrow the CoS by any means necessary. Why take down the CoS? Here is a video from wack job Tom Cruise that everyone needs to see. It was originally posted on YouTube, however it has since been pulled down. Creepy!

Anonymous has posted their own reply to the CoS.

Trillian Astra Build 70

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

Another week, another build. This week, build 70 brings over 100 bug fixes and also introduces MSN Voice Calls. As with the Yahoo voice calls that was added in build 68, you might experience some call lag.

I don’t know if anyone else experienced it or not, but that last build seamed like it had a heck of a memory leak in it.

Wow, I Haven’t Seen This In A Long Time

Friday, January 25th, 2008

Yesterday I posted about an article over at iPodNN, which reminded me that I had an account over at MacNN. According to my profile over there, I haven’t logged in since Mar 29, 2004 at 09:50 AM. I went in to edit my profile, and found a signature image that I haven’t used in a long, long time.

Bryan / d3bruts1d's OCC Sig

Still looks cool after all of these years. Surprisingly, the image is still sitting on the OCC server. So is the one for LinuXProX, Bishop245, and probably others. I forgot who all I made them for, it’s been a while. lol

Future iPod And Mac Controls To Light Up?

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

According to iPodNN, a patent application that has been submitted to the US PTO suggest that the control wheels for future iPods may have touch based illumination. The article also states that the same function could be applied to touchpads on MacBooks.

While I think this would be cool to see, I’d like to see the control (specifically on an iPod) pulse (multiple colors?) to the music playing. Pressure based LCD or OLEDs? Hmm…

Digg Updates

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Today and yesterday brought two major changes to Digg. Personally, I like the look of both changes, though I’ve yet to see the actual implementation yet.

Today Digg launched a much needed overhaul to the commenting system. I don’t think there is anyone on Digg who liked the way the comment system was. Nuff said about that.

Yesterday’s update isn’t going to make the “power diggers” too happy. The algorithm that determines what stories to promote to the front page has been tweaked. The changes should help to promote diversity in digging and discourage group digging. If it works as planed, I’m all for it.

Heath Ledger Is Dead

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

Just saw this flash across the news. Actor Heath Legder was found dead in his New York apartment. He was 28. Not a lot of information right now, but they believe it is drug related.

Cloverfield II

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

It’s only been in the box office for a few days, and there is already talk about a sequel to Cloverfield. Cool news, and I really hope this happens. — I’m not one that usually wants to see a sequel, but I think Cloverfield really deserves one. Actually, I’ll be pissed if there isn’t a foll up.

Since this could contain spoilers, I’ll tell you more after the jump. (more…)

When Ice Comes To Knoxville

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

It’s amazing how crazy things get around Knoxville when you get a little ice or snow. This morning we had a bit of freezing rain, which to no surprise ended up as ice on the roads.

Just so you know how bad Knoxville drivers are when the weather is anything but sunny, we ended up with 232 wrecks between 6:30 and 10:00 am. At one point this morning, the city of Knoxville and Rural Metro had no ambulances to dispatch. Speaking of Rural Metro, there were 4 wrecks involving one of their ambulances.

Sadly two crashes today were fatal. One in Oak Ridge and the other in Loudon County. I’m surprised things were not a lot worse.
