Plurk Releases New Blog Widget

Monday, June 30th, 2008

The Plurk team has released a new widget customizable widget that can be placed on your blog, personal website, or forehead. Ok, maybe not the last one.

The blog entry also points out that another widget will soon be released that will allow you to add your Plurks to MySpace, Facebook, and other social networks.

Guinness Bread

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Anyone who knows me should be well aware of the fact that I love food. I love to eat and I love to cook. While I can do it, I’ve never really been much of a baker… that was always mom and grandma’s thing. Though I did win a blue ribbon in 4H many moons ago for some drop biscuits I made from scratch. ;)

Today, since it’s nice and cool out, and we’ve got the windows open, I decided I’d try to bake a loaf of Guinness Bread. No, not from scratch… I didn’t have that much time to put into it today. I actually used a pack of Guinness Bread mix (yes, I cheated!) that I picked up a few months ago from ShopIrish.com.

So, how’d it turn out you ask? Pretty damn good. It probably could have used a few more minutes in the oven, and cooling after that, but I was hungry and like my bread a little doughy. ;)

Xfire 1.94 Released

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Xfire 1.94 was released just a few minutes ago. And for the first time in a long time, I’m on the ball! :D

Aside from the usualround of game updates, and bug fixes, this build enables th in-game video capture by default. Look out Fraps! This is probably the only feature of Xfire I’ve never used. May need to give it a run later today while playing some Titan Quest.

Spike TV’s The Factory

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Last night was the premier of Spike TV’s first original comedy, The Factory. And boy does it suck.

I think I may have managed to make it through 15 minuites of this train wreck. For a comedy, there wasn’t a single thing that made me even crack a smile. The filming is done in such a way that made me think I was watching a mad homemovie. Aside from being dull, the characters are idiots.

Do you have one of those guys where you work that tells something that he thinks is funny, waits for you to laugh, and when you don’t he repeats himself? The experiance I get from that multiplied by four would sum up my experiance with The Factory.

Diablo III

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

The opening ceremony for Blizzard’s WWI is now over. The big announcement was as expected, and as I posted earlier, Diablo III. Got to see a bit of it watching the live stream, but it kept cutting out on me, so I missed a lot. :(

Check out WoWInsider, as I’m sure they’ll keep posting news and other information from the event. I’d also expect to see either diablo3.com to go live over the next few days…

If you haven’t seen it already, the splash screen that Blizzard has been teasing us with over the last several days has also been updated. “And the heavens shall tremble.” I am very excited for this game, and hope it’s not to far away from a release.

And don’t forget to Digg the release!

Diablo 3 Announced!

My Social Network Experience

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

Social Networking… who would have ever thought it’d be as big as it is today. Everyone and their brother is in the game. And while I have an account on just about everyone of them, there are only a few that I log into on a regular basis.

Of course, I don’t count sites like Twitter, Plurk, or Pownce as a “Social Network”. Other people do, but I still consider these blogging services… or if you’d prefer micro-blog. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been thinking about a few services, and here are my thoughts…

Impulse by Stardock

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

Just saw an interesting item over on Neowin.net. Stardock has launched a new platform called Impulse. It allows users to assign software (applications, games, utilities, etc) to a single account for easy updating and installation.

I’m in the process of downloading the setup file right now. If you’ve used Steam from Valve, it’s like that, but with a much broader focus.

Trillian Astra Build 81

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

Another pre-release build for Trillian Astra was released on Tuesday. Apparently they felt it was necessary to tell everyone that the emots are being renovated, “Hundreds have been completed and there are still hundreds to be added in the builds to follow!”

Aside from that, there were a number of entries in the changelog.

Opera 9.50 Released

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

Firefox wasn’t the only browser to see a major update last week. Opera actually released a new version of few days prior to the Fx 3 release.

While I’ve not been able to give O9.5 much of a run yet, I will say that I’m digging the new default theme. Very cool! For details on what exactly is new with Opera 9.5, I’ll point you over to Opera Watch for all of the details.

Opera Watch also pointed out that as of June 17th (5 days after Opera 9.5 was released), over 5 Million people had downloaded the new version of the broswer. Sweet!
