Rumor: Apple’s MacBook Touch

So the internet has been buzzing about Apple’s planned “product transition” that was mentioned during Apple’s 3rd Quarter Earnings Report. What could it be?

With the success of the of the iPhone and iPod Touch some people think Apple’s next product might be a MacBook Touch. Basically a tablet PC/Mac that operates similar to the iPhone, though with a full version of OSX.

While that sounds really freaking cool to me, I don’t think I’d want one. Don’t get me wrong, I love my iPhone and I’m saving up for a MacBook Pro (for work), but the idea of a tablet doesn’t really strike me as anything more than a novelty. I don’t know, maybe I’d feel different after actually seeing a real product.

To be honest, I’m hoping the ‘product transition’ is something else. Maybe we’ll see Apple enter a whole new arena. TV’s, GPS devices, home theater equipment, console gaming, or something else. The posibilities are endless.

Did You Feel Anything?

Hopefully no one noticed anything. But if there was any kind of downtime this afternoon, it’d be because I upgraded both the PHP version and the MySQL version on the server. – Well, technically my hosting provider (GoDaddy.com) did it. I just told them to do it. ;)

As always, let me know if you notice anything odd.

Site Updated

Last night I updated d3bruts1d.com to WordPress v2.6. I’d like to say the update went smothley, and maybe it did but I had a slight scare.

Upon updating to the latest version, I tried to log into the admin section. I was told the database needed to update, so I went ahead with that (usually I’d do a backup first). After the update I returned to the admin section, only to continually received messages telling be to login again. Unable to log in, I decided to reset the password for my account. New password still wouldn’t work.

Needless to say, panic started setteling in. I quickly googled “wordpress cannot login 2.6” and ended up here. The solution was quite simple, and frankly one I should have tried before resetting my password, delete your cookies. Doh! That’s what I get for running my update late.

In addition to the WordPress update, I also updated ShareThis. Previously you had something like 15 options to select from. Now you’ve got 33. So if you like something I post, feel free to hit the ShareThis link under each post and submit it to your favorite site, email it, or link back to me. :)

iPhone WordPress App Now Available

The official iPhone WordPress App is now available. According to the product page on iTunes, the app allows you to well… post to WordPress from you iPhone, duh. Offers full support for tags, categories, draft posts, uploading pictures from you iPhone, and even supports multiple sites. You just need to be running WordPress 2.5.1 or better. Sweet!

Additional information (including a video) can be found at iphone.wordpress.org.

I think it’s safe to say that I’ll be doing a lot more mobile posting now. ;)

Old News: WordPress 2.6 Released

I’m a bit slow on this one. Apparently WordPress 2.6 was released last Tuesday.

Some of the new features include:

  • The ability to track changes/edits to post and pages.
  • Press This! Bookmarklet. Allows you to post to WordPress from any web page.
  • Google Gears support. Not much to it right now, but should offer some cool stuff later on.
  • Ability to move the wp-admin directory.
  • About 194 bug fixes.
  • Improved security tweaks.
  • And lots of other cool stuff.

I’ll be upgrading shortly, so if the site is unavailable for a minuite or two that’s probably why. ;)
