Returning To OCC

I received an early Christmas present a few months ago when I found out that my ban from OverclockersClub.com had been lifted. It’s kind of strange being back, as a lot has changed since May 2007. It’s like revisiting a house that you grew up in, but haven’t seen in 20 years. It’s very familial, yet so very different.

I’m happy to be back, but when I look around the forums I hardly recognize anyone. Where have all the old members gone? I know I’ve been too busy to keep up with all the ins and outs of the hardware world, did the same fate fall upon the others? I mean, when I started reading posts talking about the Q6600 or the AMD Phenom I was completely lost.

Of course, it is weird being a Mac user on a “PC Enthusiast” site. I must say that I was surprised to find out that more than one member there had made the switch. Hopefully as I learn more about the Mac and Apple’s OS, I can be of some help to the other members there. I’m certainly not going to be of much use in the PC world anymore. ;)

OCC appears to be pushing out a number of reviews. Far more than the old OCC ever did. However at the same time, the forums to me seem a lot less active and “messy”. Though the staff is soliciting feedback on how to improve the site, so hopefully we’ll see things change for the better. I’ve added my two cents and may add two more later.

All that said, I’m guessing there are still two big questions remaining concerning the past and future of OCC and myself.

As far as the past is concerned, I’m still upset over the things I was upset about before. I’ve said what I had to say about that, and since there is nothing else I can do about it, I’ll leave it in the past and move on.

Looking to the future. I am simply a member there, as I am a member at Neowin.net and a number of other sites. I will continue to help out the other members in anyway I can… though my area of knowledge has drastically changed. Hopefully what I have to offer will be of use to someone out there. ;)
