Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe

I was pretty excited when I first heard about Mortal Kombat vs DC. The thought of Scorpion vs. Batman was just cool. Yesterday evening my step brother decided to pick up the game for the Xbox 360. While it was a fun game, I’m glad I wasn’t the one that spent $50 on it.

While it has a lot of nice visual details, and the story was decent, the game itself felt like it was missing a lot. For starters, there isn’t a lot of fighters. MK vs. DC only has 22 characters so it’s missing a lot of people from both universes. If you’re expecting to unlock additional characters, you’ll be sadly mistaken… there are two characters that can be unlocked by completing each of the story modes. Two, that’s it.

The only hope is that maybe, we’ll see additional characters added by way of downloadable content. After all, that is the new way of milking money out of the customers, isn’t it??

While fun, right now I couldn’t justify buying the game. Perhaps if the downloadable content adds enough at a fair price (i.e. free) then I might change my tune.
