9 Movies That Disappointed Me In 2008

For some people, 2008 is already gone. I’ve still got a few hours, and I’m spent the last bit reading various blogs “Worst Movies of 2008″ and decided that I would do the same.

So here is a list of movies in 2008 that I was disappointed with:

In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale – Granted, video game movies usually suck. Movies directed by Uwe Boll suck even more, so a video game movie by Uwe Boll is sure to suck. I had hopes that Jason Statham would have been able to save it. Sadly, he didn’t and the movie sucked.

The Day The Earth Stood Still – If anything, War of the Worlds should have shown us that a remake with a big star and special effects does not mean it is going to be a great movie. Yet for some reason I still went to see this on the IMAX.

Get Smart – Yet another remake that shouldn’t have been made. Thankfully I rented this one which allowed me to fall asleep in the comfort of my own couch. Is it just me, or is Steve Carell simply not funny?

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – Not that any of the other Indiana Jones movies are believable, but the latest film really went off on the deep end. Come on, Aliens, really? I think it’s time for everyone involved to pack up and call it quits.

88 Minutes – Al Pachino runs around trying to figure out who is killing various women in his life. If that wasn’t bad enough for him, he was also having a very bad hair day.

Vantage Point – Not only did this movie suck, but the gimmick didn’t work. You can watch the last half of the movie by itself, and not even need the rest of the film. Maybe one of these days Matthew Fox will actually be in a good movie. Thankfully he has LOST for a couple more years.

Stargate: Continuum & Stargate: The Ark of Truth – I’ll lump both of these together as the same tings can be said about both. When Stargate: SG1 went off the air and the movies were announced, fans expected more… way more. Instead, what we got were two glorified Stargate: SG1 episodes. Nothing felt like it was any different than what we would have seen on a Friday night on the SciFi Channel. Yet some how I find myself still eagerly waiting for the next Stargate movie.

The Dark Knight – It wasn’t a bad movie, but I was still highly disappointed. Yes, Heath gave a great performance as The Joker, and it’s tragic that he died… but IMO the movie was a major let down when compared to Iron Man and Batman Begins.

I’m sure there are other movies that I was disappointed with through the past year, though these are the ones that stick out most in my memory. I’m sure some of you will probably disagree with the list, that’s ok, this is simply what I was disappointed with… I’m sure I’ll like some of the movies you were disappointed with as well. ;)
