It sure is cold out, and dead around here…

It has been nearly three months since my last post. Really though, not a whole lot has been going on. There has been work, more work, school and of course the wee man.

As far as work goes, I am keeping busy. It has been a shaky situation around the office for the past few months. Government budgets are tight and the lack of any real action or decision from Congress doesn’t help. The group I am involved with has seen several people cut as budgets continue to get tighter; thankfully the worst of that appears to be over and I’ve survived to work a bit longer.

My 2nd job with Crossville Medical Group looks to be ending soon. While this has only ever been a temporary job, the income has certainly been welcomed. Now, as CMG looks to be acquired (most likely by Covenant Health) the IT services that I provide will likely be rolled in-house with John and myself being left out. Jonathan, the IT manager that I work for at CMG isn’t sure if they’ll even keep him around when the dust settles. Personally, I think it would be in Covenant’s best interest as they’ll need someone to make since of the chaos there.

School is certainly keeping me busy. You may recall from my last few posts that I switched from Fountainhead College of Technology (FCT) to Strayer University. While I’m approaching the end of my first quarter with Strayer, I’m glad I made the move. The education I have received so far has been vastly superior to that from FCT. Not only that, but the instructors I have had so far have taken far more interest in the students and they have been far more involved. Don’t get me wrong, FCT isn’t a bad school. However for a school that has been around nearly 65 years they are still slowly trying to find their place. Of course, FCT (like any other school) does have its share of bad teachers, which largely played into my decision to leave. I’m sure I’ll run into a few over the next few years at Strayer.

The little man is doing great. He turned 5 months old yesterday. He does cool tricks like sitting up, sleeping all night, and drinking 10 oz of formula. Poor little guy is teething and we can feel them coming in. He should be starting solid foods (well, more mushy than solid) next month. I cannot believe how big he is getting and how fast he is growing. It feels like just the other day he was laying in the palm of my hand. I’m so incredibly thankful for him and my wonderful wife. :)

Well, that’s all for now. I’m going to try to make more regular updates… We’ll see how that works out.
