Sanctuary Gets 2nd Season

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Sanctuary has somehow managed to snag a 2nd season. SciFi Channel (owned by the NBC bastards) has given the ok for 13 new episodes.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Amanda Tapping, but her on-again, off-again awful British accent needs to die. And the green-screen sets need some more digital editing or something to get rid of the fuzzy look that you get in just about every episode.

It looks cheap, sounds cheap, but really isn’t bad if you can get past all of that. Will it make it to a 3rd season? Who knows… I was shocked that SG:A stayed around as long as it did.

Stargate: Continuum

Stargate: The Ark of Truth felt like a glorified episode. While it was nice to wrap up the story, see a few old faces, and of course see the SG-1 team in action, it really didn’t do much for me. I just dismissed it thinking “they’re trying to wrap it up, the next one will be better.”

Nope. At 97 minites long, we’ve basically been given another glorified episode. Or at least an episode and a half. (more…)

Stargate: The Ark Of Truth

Friday, March 14th, 2008

The first of two straight to DVD Stargate movies was released a few days ago. Stargate: The Ark of Truth brings an end to the Ori story arc that began during season nine.

To be honest, I had forgotten most of what had happened during season nine and ten. Heck, it’s been a year now since season ten ended with a whimper. I highly recommend that if you pick up this movie that you first watch the prologue contained on the DVD. It recaps the last few seasons (previously on Stargate: SG-1…) and it’s only a couple of minutes long.

Yes, it really does wrap up the story, and you’ll find out if the ascended being killing device did the job. You’ll also be introduced to a few new faces, and of course get to see several old faces, including an encounter with an unexpected enemy. I really want to elaborate more, but I won’t.

The movie is about an hour and a half long, so it doesn’t feel like it’s much more than a normal episode. Though it’s pretty obvious the production quality went up a bit.

In all, it was really nice seeing Ben, Amanda, Christopher, Michael, and Claudia together again. Too bad there wasn’t any RDA action, I really miss his character. Oh, and Amanda is the Carter we all love in this movie, not the dud that she’s ended up being on Atlantis. I cannot wait for the next movie due out later this year.
