OCC’s 2009 Christmas Contest

If you haven’t gotten yourself entered in OCC’s 2009 Christmas Contest, you still have a few days left. The contest will officially end sometime on the evening of 12/24. Follow the instructions on the link above, and you’ll be entered. Those of you who are signed up for the OCC Newsletter or are fans of OCC on Facebook will get an additional entry for a total of three chances to win.

In addition to a kick ass gaming rig, you can also win a ton of stuff from Mushkin, ThermalTake, CoolerMaster, Sapphire, Asus, OCZ, VisionTek, Antec, and others. There is currently a total of 65 prizes available to win, and we may get some more added before the contest comes to an end. You never know. ;)

During last year’s Christmas contest (before I re-joined the staff) I won a Sapphire Radeon HD 4750!

OverclockersClub.com Folding@Home Contest

OverclockersClub.com is running another contest. This time, all you have to do is be an active member of the OCC Folding@Home Team (#12772). There is a number of really cool prizes, and a chance that there will be some additional prizes added.

More information can be found in the OverclockersClub.com Forums.

Keep in mind, while you could win a prize for participation, the real goal here is to encourage more people to run Folding@Home even if you don’t continue to do so for our team after the contest is over with. By running the program, you are helping find cures for cancer and many other nasty diseases.

OverclockersClub.com Userbar Contest

The submissions are in and now it is time to vote for the 2008 OverclockersClub.com user bar. There were 19 different entries into the contest, and now it’s time to vote on the winner… in addition to having their design used around OCC, the winner will also receive a Sapphire HD 3850 video card.

I Won A Sapphire Radeon HD 4870

Back in December I was talking about the 2008 OverclockersClub.com Christmas contest, where they gave away over 50 prizes including a fully loaded Intel Core 2 i7 gaming system that I estimated the worth around $5K. Sadly, I didn’t win the gaming rig… well, to be honest, I don’t know what I would have done with it. :D However, I did win a pretty slick video card.

Thanks to OCC I now have a brand new Sapphire (ATi) Radeon HD 4570 video card with 512 MB GDDR5. Just so you know exactly how much of an upgrade this is, the video card in my current system – yes, despite being a Mac user, I still have an old AMD64 rig – is a VisionTek X1550 256MB (DDR2) AGP. I didn’t even know video cards were using GDDR5! When did 3 & 4 come out?? Ok, so it’s been a good 5 years since I built a PC. I’ve just not had any reason to build a new rig.

Enough talk, right? I’m sure everyone wants to see the prize now… so here it is.

Now, I just have to figure out which end plugs into the motherboard, the power, and the video cards. :D

OCC Folding@Home Contest – Coming Soon

Hot off the heals of that awesome Christmas contest, OverclockersClub.com will soon be running another contest of similar awesomeness. This new contest however is aimed at those that run Folding@Home for the OverclockersClub.com Team. More specific details about the contest, including prize information, will be announced sometime in the next few weeks.

Do you have a PS3 or a computer running Windows, Mac, Linux, Unix, BSD, or some other operating system? Good news, you can run Folding@Home, and participate in this contest! :) There is more to it than just this contest though. You see, Folding@Home is a research program that is looking to find a cure for cancer and various other diseases. The program is designed so that when you aren’t busy using your computer (or PS3) it’ll run as a screen saver or background process. After it’s up and running, you’ll probably notice no difference with your system, unless of course you enable the screen saver option. ;)

To join the OCC Folding@Home Team, simply plug in 12772 when it ask you for a team number. If you have any questions, or need any help getting it running feel free to drop by the OverclockersClub.com forums, or leave me a message in the comments.

Volitans Software Contest

The OCC Christmas Contest puts every other contest to shame, but chances to win free stuff is still good, right? By way of TUAW comes word of a contest by Volitans Software.

This contest is open only to U.S. residents and gives you the chance to win either a Barracuda 7200.11 SATA 1.5TB hard drive or a Momentus 5400.6 SATA 500GB laptop hard drive. You can enter the contest here. Winners will be announced on Christmas Day. Good luck!

Overclockers Club Christmas Contest

It’s been a long time since I’ve even mentioned OverclockersClub.com here on my site. It feels kind of strange. But this post isn’t about the past. It’s about, well as the title suggests, the OverclockersClub.com Christmas Contest. And one heck of a contest it is at that!

There are currently over 50 prizes available to registered members, and they just recently added more.

Neowin 8,000,000 Posts Challenge

Neowin.net turns 8 years old on October 1, 2008 and to celibate they are having a little challenge. If the Neowin forums can reach 8 million posts by 10/01/2008 then they will be selecting one active member and giving them a copy of Windows Vista Ultimate.

Ok, so it may not be the best price to win, but its sure better than buying the OS. ;)

What are the chances of hitting 8 million posts by then? Pretty good. 7 days left, they are already sitting at 7,984,042 total posts. All they need is 2,300 posts per day. Not a hard task if everyone helps out. When the contest was first announced (May 7th) they were sitting at 7,640,544 total posts which means they’ve been averiging 2,471.2 posts per day. See, we should be able to make it no problem!
