Woopra Wordpress Plugin 1.3

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

Woopra recently released an update to their Wordpress plugin. Version 1.3 isn’t available in the Wordpress Plugin Repository yet, so if you want to update it, you’ll need to grab it directly from Woopra.

The new version includes the ability to visitors, see your stats right from the WP dashboard.

They keep trucking along with a very nice service, and in my opinion, Google should be worried. – While I still run both Google Analytics and Woopra, I don’t remember the last time I check stats via Google. Having the desktop application from Woopra is sweet, and being able to see stats from by WP dashboard while not at home will be even nicer.

Woopra 1.2 Released

Monday, August 11th, 2008

A new version of Woopra was released over the weekend. According to the Woopra team, version 1.2 has a long list of bug fixes, tweaks, and new features. For a rundown of the “top” changes, check out the Woopra blog. For me, Woopra was already better than Google Analytics. And this new version is an improvement of their already great service.

For those of you using Woopra, the new version should automatically update when you restart the application.

Changes To d3bruts1d.com

Yesterday I rolled out an updated theme (created by me) to the site. Overall, I’m pretty happy with the theme, though it took me a bit longer than I had hoped to finish. Strike that, because technically it’s not finished, there are still a couple minor things that I need to clean up…. like adding some kind of “logo”.

There has been far more customization in this theme than the previous d3theme. Before I had based my theme loosely on others in the Wordpress community, but this time I redid everything from scratch. Because this theme is intended solely for me, I’ve hard coded some things into the theme which should mean less database queries, which in turn should mean things run faster. We’ll see how it goes for a few days, I may need to tweak some things later.

I am still relying on a number of plug ins to do some stuff. Let’s face it, plug ins make life easier. ;) Among the plug ins I use are… (more…)

It’s Woopra Time

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Yesterday (or the day before) someone on Plurk mentioned Woopra. I hadn’t heard anything about Woopra before, and come to find out it’s a web site analytics service similar to Google Analytics (formally Urchin). So I decided to give the service a go.

After being approved, all I can say is… WOW! This service really is nice, and after using it for a few days, I’ll admit, I like it better than Google Analytics. If you run a blog, or any other website I’d highly encourage you to take a look at Woopra.

Some Stats About d3bruts1d.com

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

I was looking at my site’s stats for the past year via Google Analytics, and found some interesting stats. Well, at least they were interesting to me, you might not care one bit about them. :p According to the data reported:

  •  I’ve received 2x more traffic from Neowin.net than I have from OverclockersClub.com. I’ve only been active at Neowin since about May.
  • I’ve received almost as much traffic from my wife’s blog as I have from OverclockersClub.com.
  • Since switching to WordPress traffic appears to have increased. – Though this is more likely due to the fact that I’m posting more.
  • Yahoo brings in about 10% more search traffic than Google.
  • Altavista, which brings in very little traffic, still brings in more than Live and Ask.com combined.
  • The most popular search term is “viewmymessage.com”, which I was complaining about in this post.
  • Aside from the index or main page, the most popular pages here are the ones talking about Trillian Astra.

Google Analytics

Monday, November 14th, 2005

The newest service from Google has hit the web. Google Analytics, which is based on the recently acquired Urchin, will give web masters the ability to see what exactly is going on (e.g. Where did a visitor come from, where did they go, most active pages, etc.). The best thing about it, the service when it was provided by Urchin use to cost $495 per month is now free.

That’s right, a full-featured analytics service free. No banners, no buttons, no cost. What else could you ask for?

Update: The Google Blog has been updated with more information.
