New Google Toolbar Beta

Monday, January 30th, 2006

Google has released a new beta version of their Google Toolbar. The new version has some major changes over previous versions.

The toolbar allows you to log into your Google Account. This in turn, allows you to manage your “Google Bookmarks”, which you would have set in your Personalized Google Home Page and/or Google Search History.

You also have the ability to add new buttons to the toolbar via the Button Gallery. For those interested in making your own button, there is an API available.

No word yet when the new beta version will be available for Mozilla Firefox.

Google's Persoanl Search & Personal Homepage Get Closer

Tuesday, October 11th, 2005

Google has added a new feature to their “personal search history” service that helps tie it in a bit more with their personalized homepage (or portal). I’m sure something will appear on the Google Blog later that better describes what is new, but for now, here is my version:

The Google Search History now allows you to “star” results. These star results will appear on the left side of the search history page under “bookmarks”. The bookmarks can be edited and even labeled for better organization.

If you label something “homepage” it will show up on the Google Personalized Page, provided you have the bookmarks section visible. As with Google’s other services, you can add an item to more than one label to any item. As far as I can tell, additional labels right now will only aid in organization.

Also, in case you didn’t know. Google’s personalized home page has als had the ability to display your last 1-20 search queries for some time. It just needs to be enabled.

Google Search History Now Tracks Google Images

Thursday, July 7th, 2005

Google has updated the Google Search History to now remember searches done on Google Images.

The Google Search History allows you then to go back and easily find sites and querys that you’ve done in the past. And it also turns Google into a more Personalized Search based off of your history.

Google Adds "My Search History"

Thursday, April 21st, 2005

Google has finally added something that I have been waiting on for a long time, Search History.

Now you can find out what you searched for, when you searched for it, and what you clicked on after your search. ;) I hope they’ve got plenty of room for the history available. Some of us use Google more than the address bar on our browser.

So far it only looks like it records your search information for the main Google search. I’d hope that other areas of Google are added later on (Groups, Images, etc.). Since Google’s “My Search History” is only it the early days of beta, I’m sure we’ll see more added in the future.
