The Trillian team has released a new build. Build 71 is mainly a bugfix build, which looks to have fixed the Google Talk crash that a number of us were experiencing. There also reporting some work was done on the “add contact” panel as well as video calls. Looks like a pretty stable build so far.

Trillian Astra Build 71 Released
Saturday, February 2nd, 2008GMail Chat + AOL Instant Messenger
Tuesday, December 4th, 2007The line between IM protocols is becoming more and more blurred. Starting today [some] GMail users now have the ability to sign into their AIM account. Looks like only one account (yes, I have a couple). If you don’t have the option yet, you should be getting it in the coming weeks. It doesn’t look like ICQ users show up (AIM can communicate with ICQ as AOL owns both).
The Google Talk desktop client doesn’t support “AIM Talk” yet but I’d suspect we’ll see that very soon.
Trillian Astra Build 63 Released
Monday, November 19th, 2007A new build for Trillian Astra was released last week. Build 63 fixes a number of issues with Jabber and Google Talk, and with this build all network plugins have been upgraded to the new IMcore system. There is also suppose to be a nice upgrade to the mail integration. GMail + IMAP? Hmmm…
This week’s build is set to include some UI enhancements, the build after that will begin work on audio/video integration. The good news is, Trillian Astra Beta shouldn’t be to far off. From the sound of the Trillian Dev Bog, I wouldn’t be surprised if beta came out around the new year.
Google Desktop For Linux Released
Thursday, June 28th, 2007In what will hopefully be a long line of applications for the Linux world, Google has released a version of Google Desktop for Linux. While it lacks support for widgets/gadgets, it will index just about everything on your system. OOo docs, man pages, media files, and more.
Good, now I’ll be able to install the PHP documentation and search it rather than having to visit PHP.net every time!
Hopefully we’ll get an update to Picasa in the near future, as well as a Linux version of Google Talk. Yes, I know GTalk is just jabber… it’s the GMail integration that I like most.
Google Talk Updated
Monday, April 10th, 2006A new version of Google Talk was released over the past few days. The update to Google’s Jabber-based IM client provides support for avatars and themes.
And that’s all the information available at this time. Google tends to keep the changes and version history pretty secretive… probably so we don’t uncover it’s deviant plans to “Be Evil” and take over the world.
Google Apps May Be Coming To Linux
Wednesday, February 15th, 2006An article posted on DesktopLinux.com says that Linux users may finally be getting some of Google’s toys. The article only hints about Google Talk and Picasa, but I’m wondering when we’ll be seeing Google Desktop Search, and other apps ported over.
This also makes me wonder if Google really is creating the rumored Google Linux distribution. After all, it would be kind of silly to release a distro when your tools aren’t available for it.
Google Hires GAIM Developer
Thursday, October 13th, 2005GAIM’s main developer, Sean Egan, has been hired by Google. He’ll be working on Google Talk, Google’s own IM/VoIP client, to help “on making it as easy as possible for other clients to use Google Talk’s voice features.”
Google Talk Silently Updated
Wednesday, August 31st, 2005I’ve seen this posted around the net several places. It appears as though Google Talk has silently updated itself to version 1.0.0.66 Beta.
Not much is said about the update according to the changelog listed on FileForum, and good luck trying to find anything listed on Google’s site.
Google Talk Easter Egg
Wednesday, August 24th, 2005If you open up Google Talk’s about screen, by right clicking on the task bar icon, you should see something that says “play 23 21 13 16 21 19 . 7 1 13 5″.
By converting the number over to the corresponding letter in the alphabet, you get “wumpus.game”. Add that user to your friends list for an old IRC game.
Google Talk vs. Skype And More GT Reviews
Wednesday, August 24th, 2005Not even available for a full day yet and the beta version of Google Talk is being compared to Skype. Just a quick little review, that isn’t a bad read.
And don’t forget the rumors about Google buying Skype.
I expect to see a number of reviews poping up over the next several days. Here are some that are available right now.
