C|Net News has a nice little FAQ posted about Google’s controversial Web Accelerator that was recently launched. I’d highly encourage everyone to read over the FAQ as it dispels a lot of myths, rumors, and concerns.
It has been confirmed by Google that there are issues with the Google Web Accelerator Beta program. Though “it looks worse than it is“.
Looks like Google has had quite a few people wanting to try out their new Google Web Accelerator. So many in fact, that they have temporarily disabled downloads for the broadband web accelerator.
A message at webaccelerator.google.com currently reads:
Thank you for your interest in Google Web Accelerator. We have currently reached our maximum capacity of users and are actively working to increase the number of users we can support.
Was it just to popular for Google’s own good? Or was there a more serious problem that caused Google to disable the service? Who knows.
Google has just released its latest utility, The Google Web Accelerator. It true Google style, this is a beta program.
Unlike most “web accelerator” applications out there, this program is specifically designed for the broadband market. Yes, it is a web accelerator for broadband.
Those of you in need of a faster broadband connection, you can download the beta program here. You’ll find a GWA discussion group in the Google Groups if you need help.
