Mashable iPhone App

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

I love Mashable.com, it’s a fantastic site for social media related news and info. I find myself visiting several times each day, and have hoped for a while now that they would release an iPhone app or a iPhone friendly website. Sure, there is a mobile site you can access if you know about it but you aren’t automatically sent there if you have an iPhone.

I was thrilled to see the news yesterday that Mashable now had their own iPhone app. Sadly, I wish it had been a bad April Fool’s joke. The app blows. :( (more…)

iPhone Wordpress App Now Available

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

The official iPhone Wordpress App is now available. According to the product page on iTunes, the app allows you to well… post to Wordpress from you iPhone, duh. Offers full support for tags, categories, draft posts, uploading pictures from you iPhone, and even supports multiple sites. You just need to be running Wordpress 2.5.1 or better. Sweet!

Additional information (including a video) can be found at iphone.wordpress.org.

I think it’s safe to say that I’ll be doing a lot more mobile posting now. ;)

Pownce Goes Mobile

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

Yesterday the Pownce crew rolled out a new (and long overdue) feature, Pownce Mobile. You can send and view messages, links, files, and events just like you would on Pownce proper, the only thing missing from Pownce Mobile is the ability to edit your profile or friends.

It’s a nice new feature, but I’m sure a majority of the Pownce users would still rather have a Pownce SMS option.

And yes, it does look pretty nice on the iPhone.

Why Does GMail On The iPhone Suck?

Monday, September 17th, 2007

Ok, GMail on the iPhone doesn’t really suck… but for someone like me that is use to using GMail the “GMail Way” this POP stuff just doesn’t fly. I want things I read on my iPhone to be marked as read inside of GMail, I want access to my labels, and everything else that I use all to often in GMail. Hell, I’ll even take the ads if it’ll make GMail on the iPhone more like real GMail.

What would really be nice is if there was the ability to use the GMail Mobile App on the iPhone like I used on my Moto Razr. For those of you that don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s basically a GMail Mini.

You’d think with as together as Google and Apple are that you’d have a decent GMail app for the iPhone. Heck, you’d probably expect to see Google Reader, Google Calendar, Google Finance, and several other Google apps available for the iPhone. Why aren’t they available?

Sure, you can use Safari on the iPhone and navigate to gmail.com and check your mail inside of the “real GMail”. But then that defeats the purpose of having the Mail notification sitting on your phone. And even then, it still gets difficult to navigate.
