Unofficial: Opera 9.5 Beta 1 Available

Opera 9.50 Beta 1 isn’t scheduled to be officially released until tomorrow, however it’s made an early appearance on Opera’s public FTP.

Before I post the links, a little word of warning to anyone that grabs the file early. It’s not been officially released until you see something on the Opera Desktop Team Blog or the actual Opera.com website. There have been a few occurrences in the past where a file on the FTP had to be pulled or replace due to some kind of issue.

The above links are to the FTP site, and not the actual file. Remember, this is unofficial still and even then it is BETA software. The official release will be tomorrow.

Opera Software Opens Office In Google-ville

Opera Software has opened a new office right down the road from the internet juggernaut, Google. Though to be fair, Mountain View, CA is home to a number of other companies that you might have heard of. AOL, Mozilla, RedHat, Intuit, and even Microsoft.

According to Opera Watch, the new US office along with the existing office in San Diego, CA will be crucial to the marketing of the Opera browser. Something that the little browser is in serious need of.

Opera: New Build | 9.5 Beta Coming Next Week

Opera Watch and the The Opera Desktop Team Blog have posted an announcements that we’ll see Opera 9.5 Beta next Thursday (10/25/2007). They also plan on celebrating the release at the Rock Opera Party in San Fransisco. Looks like it’ll be a pretty cool event, to bad it’s all the way across the country. I’ll drink a beer as I download Opera 9.5 Beta to join in the celebration from afar. ;)

There will be more at the event than just live music, an open bar, and Opera 9.5 Beta. According to an earlier post on Opera Watch, Opera Software will also be launching a new product. I’m really curious as to what this will be. ll have to admit, I’m a bit behind in all things Opera related. Yes, that’s sad considering I’m a self proclaimed Opera Browser fan boy. I need to do some catch up.

As a warm up, the Opera Desktop Team has released a new snapshot build. Keep in mind, snapshot builds contain known bugs and may crash. Use at your own risk. – Though to be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever had a major issue with an Opera alpha, beta, or snapshot build.
