Say it ain’t so, but the new rumor is eBay may be in talks to buy Skype.
To me that makes about as much since as eBay buying Taco Bell.

A new beta version of Skype, 1.4.0.45, has been released for testing. The most important change in 1.4 is “significantly improved call quality”. In addition to that call forwarding has been added as well as the ability to further customize Skype via the Skype Store. More details on what has changed can be found in the changelog.
Please note, Skype 1.4 Beta is recommended only for advanced users and testing. If you aren’t feeling quite up to that, download the Official release, 1.3.0.66.
Not even available for a full day yet and the beta version of Google Talk is being compared to Skype. Just a quick little review, that isn’t a bad read.
And don’t forget the rumors about Google buying Skype.
I expect to see a number of reviews poping up over the next several days. Here are some that are available right now.
I’m sure there are more out there right now, so go Google it if you want something else. ![]()
I’m one of those people that love rumors, especially when it’s related to a product or products I use. Google, Skype, and TiVo happen to be three such products. Now, I’m not a heavy user of Skype, but I have used it. I just don’t have much need for it right now.
Anyway, these guys think that Google’s new IM Service is a foreshadow of their plans to buy Skype.
Another popular rumor is that Google could buy TiVo. Hmm…
