Movies & Digital Copies

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

This certainly nothing new, but it was “new” to me. Today when I purchased Star Wars: The Clone Wars it had a nice little sticker on it that said it included a digital copy. I don’t know if any of the other movies in my library included this, and if they did and I didn’t get the digital copy, well I’m an idiot.

For those of you that don’t know the digital copies can be downloaded to your PC or Mac, and even transferred to your iPod. And it’s free with the DVD purchase. Not bad, you get two for the price of one.

How painful was the process? That’s the thing, it wasn’t. I simply put the “digital copy / bonus disk” into my Mac, opened up iTunes, and input the redemption code that came with the DVD. iTunes downloaded the movie, and now I have a digital copy… just like that. There is a similar process for PC+iTunes or PC+WMP.

Yes, I’m still one that buys physical media. Usually I’ll go for the Limited Edition or Special Edition copies first. After this, I’ll be looking to buy more movies with digital copies.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

During the whole marketing blitz that accompanied the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated movie, I really had no desire to see it. That was until I started watching the animated series that followed. I’m really enjoying the series… funky animation and all.

I went to Wal*Mart today to pick up a few things, and was back in the electronics section looking for a speciffic gift for my father-in-law, when I found myself facing the newly released DVD of The Clone Wars. So, I decided to pick up a copy.

The movie was fun to watch, and certainly less painful to watch than Star Wars: Episode I – Episode III. The animation, though different, makes the lightsaber battles even cooler.

Samuel L. Jackson and Christopher Lee return in the animated film reprising the roles of Mace Windu and Count Dooku. And believe it or not, Anthony Daniels also returns as C-3PO (he’s been C-3PO in all the movies).

Aside from that, it’s just Star Wars. Some will like it, some won’t. I did.

Fun With The Star Wars Mailboxes

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

If you haven’t heard about the USPS’ Star Wars R2-D2 themed mailboxes, you should read this.

It was only a matter of time until someone started having fun with the new mailboxes. Check out this photo on Flikr. Classic!

BTW, it’s also on Digg.

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Thursday, May 19th, 2005

Guess I cannot go on today unless I make at least one post about Revenge of the Sith. The movie opened just after midnight today, and in some areas has been sold out for weeks if not longer.

Last night’s 6 o’clock and 10 o’clock news showed people sitting outside of some of the local theaters here in Knoxville. They mentioned that some of the idiots (my own word) had been camping out in front of the theater for over six hours.

I’ll give Lucas some credit, despite having two extremely horrible movies (I & II), and three others that wouldn’t make it much past “ok” in my book, the initial reviews for Star Wars III have been pretty good.

I’ll end up seeing it at some point, but it’ll probably be after all of the dorks in costumes have left the theaters. :p

What Is Your Favorite Star?

Monday, February 21st, 2005

This weeks poll @ OCC is more of a TV/Movie poll than it is related to computers. Though, with a title like “What Is Your Favorite Star?” you might think the poll is about people. It’s not. The poll wants to know what show or movie with the word “star” in it you like best. This could be Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, Battlestar Galactica or a few other things… maybe there is one that you like that I didn’t think about. Let us know. ;)

Yes, I voted for BSG. :p
