24: Seasons 1 – 3

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

So, in the last three weeks I’ve managed to watch the first three seasons of 24 in its entirety. And I’ll be starting the fourth season either later tonight or tomorrow. This is reminiscent of when I started my LOST addiction, watching entire seasons over a weekend.

I’ve got to hand it to the writing team so far, they’ve kept me coming back for more. I love how no one, and I mean no one is safe. Thankfully towards the end of season three, my least favorite character was killed off.

One of the things I’ve really enjoyed about 24 so far is a lot of familiar faces, and a lot of actors that I like and never realized were part of the 24 universe. Actors like Tobin Bell (Saw), Daniel Dae Kim (Lost), Lou Diamond Phillips (Young Guns, Route 666), Dennis Hopper (Apocalypse Now), Zachary Quinto (Heroes, Star Trek), James Dale (The Black Donnely’s). It’s also nice to know that Henry Ian Cusick (Lost) and Michael Shanks (Stargate, Burn Notice, Eureka) will be in seasons that I have yet to watch.

So, I’ll be starting season four soon… then I’ll still have to watch five and six. Then next month a 2 hour TV movie 24: Redemption which bridges the gap between season six and season seven. Will I be caught up by then? Who knows… that really depends on a lot of things. I’d certainly like to be, but in the end I guess it won’t kill me if I’m not. — On the other hand, the wife might kill me if I am. ;)

There is one question that remains… how many more bad days can Jack Bauer have? Several, I hope.

Saw IV

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

If you can get past the extreme gore, the Saw movies so far have been fantastic. For those of you that cannot get past the gore, we’ll then you’ll end up missing the entire movie.

As with the other movies in the series, Saw IV picks back up right where the others left off, and continues to fill in the pieces of the puzzle (no pun intended). Saw IV brings in a few new faces, in addition to several that we’ve seen before. Tobin Bell reprises his role has Jigsaw, and he’s created some new traps for everyone to play with.

Bottom line is the Saw movies aren’t for everyone, but if you’ve enjoyed the others than you’ll like this one. I did.
