Vacation was good

Hello, remember me? You know, that guy that uses the odd handle “d3bruts1d”? The owner of the site that you are looking at right now? Still not ring a bell? Can’t say that I blame you, updates here have been few and far between over the last several months. I’m not going to make any promises, but hopefully that’ll change. :D

I’m back from a long over due vacation. The wife and I headed over to North Myrtle Beach for the first part of the month. Sand, sun, and food… lots, and lots of food. I’ll try and get some pictures posted over the next few days of everything.

Even though I’ve been to Myrtle several times now, this is the first time we ended up at Broadway at the Beach. That place has a lot of cool shops and restaurants. Two of my favorite places there included Key West Grill and the KISS Coffeehouse (better than Starbucks!). Farrah enjoyed Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville (I like Cheeseburger in Paradise better!) and It’s Sugar a wall to wall candy store. Of course we also visited the outlet mall and Barefoot Landing.

Aside from Myrtle, we also drove north to Wilmington, NC and toured the U.S.S. North Carolina Battleship. I enjoyed the self tour, and seeing everything on the ship. I’ll let Farrah describe her experiences’ on her own blog. ;) I took some photo’s with my iPhone, and I’ll upload them to Facebook or Picasa over the next few days. I think she has already posted several on her Facebook page.

I’m home now and back to work… and all I want to do is get away again already! :D

Panama City, Florida

Well, since I didn’t use my digital camera, I don’t have any perdy pixs to post right now. Doesn’t mean I can’t talk about the place though, eh?

First off, I have to comment on Montgomery, AL. We drove through that place twice on our way to PCB. That town has to be the foulest smelling place I have ever had the displeasure of passing through!

Let’s see here…. the beach wasn’t bad. Sand, sun, yatta yatta yatta. We ended up staying in a two room condo at The Summerhouse. It’s a nice place on the east end of town.

The beach and water itself was still pretty nasty from the hurricanes that had been through the area earlier this year. The beach was lined with a “sea weed” type plant that had washed ashore. The sun caused this stuff to dry out and rot, which created a pretty bad (fishy) odor. The watter had a yellow tint to it which made it hard to see in. While snorkeling, I could only see a few feet below me.

One night while we were there, we stopped by Breakers so we could see the mother-in-law’s favorite show preformed by Clutch. It’s a pretty cool (and entertaining) rock tribute band. We were all sad to hear that Breakers has been sold, and will be torn down for some new high rise condos. Clutch’s last show there will be in Sept., but they plan on sticking together and fining a new venue.

We also stopped by one of my favorite places in PCB, and that’d be Pineapple Willy’s. I don’t think I could go to PCB without stopping here at least once. Best ribs I’ve ever had. :)

That’s pretty much it. We ate out at a few other places, and spent most of the time in the sun. Now I’m home and it’s back to work tomorrow. :/
