XFire has been purchased by Viacom… the company that owns such disasters as MTV, VH1, and Nickelodeon.

You can read the full press release here. According to the info, XFire will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of MTV Networks.

MTV was cool once upon a time, let’s hope they don’t frak up XFire like they’ve managed to do just about everything else that they’ve touched.
